Laboratory robotics solutions

Robot hardware platforms for laboratory automation software teams, robotics companies and instrument integrators.

LabCarry manufactures the body and mechanical hardware in-house, integrates sourced mobile bases and arms, and completes hardware/firmware connections and platform interfaces for your scheduling software.

Custom robotic modules

LabCarry manufactures robot body panels, platforms, grippers, racks, frames and fixtures using in-house sheet metal fabrication and machining. These parts can be supplied within a complete hardware platform or as an agreed module.

Provide the mating dimensions, materials, load, quantity and inspection criteria. For a complete platform, we also integrate the selected base and arm and complete the agreed hardware interface.

Discuss a custom hardware module

Choose by the handoff task.

A transport platform can connect work areas. A mobile manipulator adds a defined pickup or placement action. A sample transport configuration adds carrier and identity requirements to the physical transfer.

Bring these inputs to the review

  • The object or carrier and its loaded configuration.
  • Source, destination and the completed handoff state.
  • Drawings, interfaces and the work packages to outsource.
  • Environment, acceptance criteria and expected quantity.

Which architecture matches the transfer task?

Choose the physical action first. These categories can overlap: a sample transport system may use a mobile base, and a mobile manipulator may carry samples. The decisive question is what must happen at the source and destination.

Task to completeConfiguration to evaluateDecision that changes the scope
Move a loaded carrier between work areasMobile laboratory robotDoes a person or a separate station load and unload the carrier?
Reach into a workstation and pick or place an objectMobile manipulatorCan the object be accessed, gripped and placed within the combined base, arm and station tolerance?
Deliver the correct identified sample carrier to a receiving processSample transport configurationWhich system verifies identity and confirms that physical receipt is complete?
Add a carrier rack, docking interface or enclosure to an existing platformCustom robotic moduleWho owns the mating dimensions and validates the finished system?

A fixed transfer fixture may be sufficient when endpoints and object positions are tightly constrained. An arm is a candidate when the required handling action cannot be achieved by the agreed carrier and station arrangement. Compare both in the transport versus manipulation guide.

The hardware and software responsibility split

LabCarry delivers the integrated hardware and the agreed platform interface. The customer supplies the scheduling software that uses that interface to direct tasks.

Body and mechanical parts manufacturing; base and arm integration.Laboratory task definition, workflow logic and task scheduling.
Base-to-arm hardware/firmware interoperability, device connections and platform interface.Connection of customer software through the agreed interface; instrument and facility orchestration.
Assembly, calibration and hardware/interface acceptance.Application workflow verification and coordination of site acceptance.

Agree station dimensions, supported functions, interface behavior and factory/site acceptance before the build. Protocol support and performance apply to the selected and verified configuration.

Common questions

Are these categories standard robot models?

These are hardware configurations for OEM projects. We confirm dimensions, components and performance requirements with you after reviewing the transfer task and station interfaces.

Where should a project with both transport and manipulation start?

Start with the mobile manipulator requirements and include the carrier and identity rules from the sample transport page. Use one responsibility matrix for the complete workflow.

Can a project be limited to a single module?

Yes. We can manufacture an agreed module or subassembly. Send the mating drawings, quantities and inspection requirements; your integration team verifies it in the finished system.
